Protection

Child Safeguarding Is a Condition of Our Work

Every child has the right to learn free from abuse, exploitation, neglect, discrimination and avoidable harm.

Our commitments

Safety comes before publicity or speed

  • Act in the best interests of the child
  • Treat every child with dignity and without discrimination
  • Require appropriate conduct from personnel, volunteers and partners
  • Use informed consent and age-appropriate assent for images and information
  • Provide safe, confidential and accessible ways to raise concerns
  • Collect only necessary information and store it securely

Dedicated contact

Raise a safeguarding concern

For a safeguarding concern connected with Sir JALAL, its activities, personnel, volunteers or partners, contact our restricted safeguarding mailbox:

safeguarding@sirjalal.org

This is not an emergency service. If a child is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency or child-protection authority first. In your initial email, share only the information necessary to explain the concern and avoid unnecessary identifying or sensitive details about a child.

Implementation status

The operational system is being completed

Before child-facing activities begin, Sir JALAL will approve its operational policy and code of conduct, identify and train focal persons, establish reporting and referral procedures, and agree responsibilities with the partner school.

Minimum safeguards

Requirements before child-facing activity

  • Identify and train a suitable local safeguarding focal person and Sir JALAL oversight contact
  • Require appropriate screening, reference checks and a signed code of conduct
  • Prevent adults from being alone with children in unobservable or isolated spaces
  • Establish confidential, accessible complaint, incident-reporting and referral arrangements
  • Use informed caregiver consent and meaningful child assent for participation, interviews and images
  • Assess communication and accessibility needs so reporting channels can be used by every child

Images and stories

Dignity before publicity

  • No child will be pressured to share a story or appear in a photograph or video
  • Refusing publicity will never affect eligibility for support
  • Content that humiliates, stereotypes, reveals sensitive information or creates foreseeable risk will not be used
